According to Iresearch's latest released the report of the market monitoring of China's online game in the second quarter of 2008, the market dimensions of Chinese online game exceeded 500 billion yuan for the first time, in Q2 of 2008, up to 508 billion yuan. As for the current ranking of operators' income, Tencent surpassed The9 to the fourth place.
The online game being the first selection in Internet corporate diversification, pure operators in games face challenges.
In the second quarter of 2008, Shanda Networking ranked the first in the games Industry by its seasonal profits of 800 million yuan. NetEase, Giant Interactive Group, Tencent, and The9 ranked from the second to the fifth. More and more internet corporations will regard online games as the best chance of diversification Strategy. NetEase, Tencent and Sohu have made brilliant achievements amongst them. The incomes of the three have taken up the 27% of the whole market of the games Industrial. It still should have 20% ascendant spaces.

The gap between the operators is being bridged; the competition is being variable.
From the current share of the market structure, the income of NetEase, ranked the second, was 240 million yuan higher than that of Sohu which is the eighth. The gap is just from a successful product. Looking at the ranking, in most cases, operators stimulated the business turnover by a single star product. Once the sales of the product declined or another star product was put into the market, the ranking would be enormously affected.
From the promotion time of the products, sales in Q2 are usually the preparation of what it is in the summer season or Q3. At this time all the operators will launch their new products to stimulate the market in the summer season. By the end of Q2, it will cast light on the consumer profitability different products can bring. Therefore, Iresearch's believes that some considerable changes will be taken in the ranking from the second place to the eighth. The operators, whose products are out of date, will keep slipping in the rankings.

Above all, the market of the Chinese online games industry is under a period of adjustment in Q2 of 2008. Each operator has been making the final preparation for the Chinajoy in Q3 or the summer season. Iresearch's believes that there will be fierce competitions in Q3, behind the peaceful market of Q2.
